City Palace, Jaipur
City Palace Jaipur is one of major landmark of the town and is very popular among the tourists. This huge palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during his period. City Palace stands apart in terms of art & architecture among the other palaces and forts around. It covers a huge area which is further divided into building and courtyards and series of garden. There are also other grand buildings which later were built by the other rulers.
Raja Jai Singh 2 built City Palace complex Jaipur covers about 1/7 of the walled city. In the entrance of the gateway there is a huge magnificent brass gate which directly leads to the courtyard from where “Mubarak Mahal” which is now textile and housing section of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh 2 Museum. The Palace complex consists of several buildings Chandra Mahal, Mukut Mahal, Maharani’s Palace, Sri Govind Dev Temple and City Palace Museum. There is a huge silver vase kept at Diwan-I Khas that has made its place in Guines World Records. In the olden days these vessel were used to carry water of holy river Ganges which was used in temples. “The Chandra Mahal” is a seven storey building decorated with mirror works and frescos. Every floor of this building has different name.
Being the capital of Rajasthan and a major tourist spot, Jaipur is well connected with airports, roads and railways. Direct trains connected to the other main cities of the country like Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Agra, Mysore etc. The Jaipur airport has regular domestic flights, also international flights connecting to Dubai, Dublin and Singapore.
