Nahargarh Fort
Nahargarh Fort was built by Maharaja Sawai Raja Jai Singh in the year 1734. Being Jaipur being the capital of Rajasthan, Nahargarh Fort was strategically located top of Aravali and acted as a defense for Amer. “ Nahargarh” word means “Abode of Tigers” therefore it is also called “Tiger Fort” . There were new additions to the fort by Sawai Ram Singh II in the 19th century. Some of the old parts of the fort have been ruined but the later addition parts are still very captivating.
There is a legend behind the fort; Nahargarh Fort was named after prince. It is said that the construction site of the fort was haunted by the ghost of the prince. Later on a tantrik was called and then prince agreed to leave the fort only if the fort was named after him.
Another main attraction of the Nahargarh Fort is its breathtaking view of Man Sagar Lake and the natural beauty around. The fort is designed geometrically and looks stunning when lighted in the evenings. Not only this, fort has some good cafeteria inside with varieties of drinks and snacks to enjoy while viewing the glittering view of Jaipur.
