Amber Fort
Amber Fort is situated in Amber which is 11kms from Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was ancient capital of Kachhwaha clan till Jaipur became the official capital in the year 1727. Amber Fort is famous for its unique artistic architecture and a blend of both Hindu and Muslim style. Fort is all built of white marble and red sandstone, to add to its beauty the fort has Maotha Lake in its foreground. The foundation of the fort was built by Raja Man Singh I, later on it was completed during the reign of Raja Jai Singh II.
The outer look of the fort is rugged and craggy which is completely different from the inside. The interior of the fort is lavish and ornate influenced by the Hindu and Muslim art of decoration. The walls of the fort are decorated with the murals, portraits, frescoes depicting different scenes from daily life of the Rajputs who were self-indulgent, adventurous and revolutionary.



The detailed carvings of ceilings and walls are simply outstanding. The intricate mirror works adds royalty to the walls of the fort. The beauty and intricacy of the fort is capable enough to attract its visitors. The Amber Fort is surrounded by the huge walls on all its side for the protection from invasion. Fort is divided into four sections; each is accessible from by a large staircase from the central location or from the pathway which leads to each of the section. The pathways are wide enough and now it used for elephant rides given to the tourist.
Kali Temple which is also called Shila Devi Temple forms a major part of the Amber Fort Jaipur. It is very famous for its glorious past, huge silver doors and silver lions. Diwan-I-Aam (The Hall of Public Audiences) is a pavilion with two rows of columns. Ganesh Pol, is a different feature of the temple which the path to the apartments of the King. Jai Mandir (The Hall of Victory) comprises of delicate mirror works which is very stunning.
Amber Fort is indeed one of the beautiful forts among the forts of Jaipur. There is a light and sound show in the evenings which is worth experiencing. So while you visit Jaipur, do not miss to come and enjoy the elephant ride to Amber Fort.
