Lakes Of Rajasthan
Lake is a body of fresh water surrounded by land. Rajasthan has many picturesque natural lakes and also man made lakes which is used to store water for drinking as well as for irrigation purpose. Divino Indian Memoirz presents some major lakes of Rajasthan.
Fateh Sagar Lake :
This lake is situated in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It was originally built by Maharana Jai Singh later it was rebuilt by Maharana Fateh Singh after which the lake was named. Many tourist come here to enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake, Boating facility is also available. There is a boat shaped café which is also an attraction for visitors. This lake is connected to Lake Pichhola through a steep canal.
Ana Sagar Lake :
Ana Sagar Lake is wonderful man made lake situated in north of Ajmer. It was built in 12th century and was named after ruler named Anaji Chauhan. It was reconstructed by Jehangir and Shahjahan the Mughal emperors.
Gadsisar Lake :
This lake is situated in Jaisalmer and the only source of water supply to the city. It was named after Maharwal Garsisingh. There are many temples around this place and you can also spot different kinds of birds if you are lucky enough. The surrounding is very calm and peaceful.
Lake Pichola :
This lake is situated in Udaipur named after Maharana Udai Singh.The lake is surrounded by breathtaking view and fascinating hill. In the later period Maharaja Jagjit Singh added 2 small islands in between the lake which is called now, Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas. Badipol is a masonry dam of Lake Pichhloa.
Sardar Samand Lake :
This Lake was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh in the year1993. It is situated 60 kms away from Jodhpur. Neelgai, Chinkara, Black Buck can easily be spotted near this lake. Local folks of this place are called Bishnoi and are well known for conserving wildlife. This lake in Rajasthan was once a hunting spot of the kings. The place is full with the scenic beauty.
Kailana Lake :
This lake of Rajasthan is situated nearly 11 kms from Jaisalmer. The atmosphere and surrounding is very serene and peaceful. People come here to enjoy the sunset and it also is now a good picnic spot.
