History Of Rajasthan
The history of Rajasthan dates long back before 2500BC. The north Rajasthan was the foundation of Indus Valley Civilization. The earliest dwellers of the area were tribe called Bhils and Minas.
Aryans had visited this area around 400 B.C and got settled here forever. The local people then were pushed down to south and to East. Turks, Afghan, Mughals and Persians followed mixing in the blood, with the original inhabitants of the place. This mixing gave birth to the martial lineage to Rajputs.
During the times of Harsha (7 AD) to the founding of Delhi Sultanate, Rajasthan was divided into competing Kingdoms. It was in this era through the influence of power and wealth Rajputs persuaded the Brahmins to link them with the moon, sun and the fire god.
With the passing time Rajputs were divided into 36 royal clans. Vibrant and colorful Rajputs finally settled in Rajasthan. Their influence declined later in the 14th century.

With the Mughals arriving and with the clever strategy of famous ruler Akbar, the strategy was of matrimonial alliance with Rajputs. Akbar gave high offices to Rajput prince after marrying Rajput princes Jodha Bai who was the daughter of King Amber. However, the spirit of Rajput was never really captured till the British colonial power came. When Mughals weakened the Rajput reasserted their dominance.
The Origin of Rajputs :
The origin of Rajputs is still very controversial. It is said that Rajputs were of foreign origin and when they came here they persuaded the Brahmins (priest of Indian Varna) accord them the Kashtriya (warrior) clan the status which they always boasted upon. The lineages of the Rajputs were traced from a mythical fire atop Mt.Abu. A mountain in Rajasthan (agni kula of fire family), the sun (Suryavanshi or sun family), the moon (chandravanshi or the moon family).
Apart from the history of their lineage the Rajputs were really an image of knightly noble, handsome, brave with the attitude of code of honor and chivalry. There were many Rajput warriors in the history like Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Rana Kumbha, and Bhappa Rawal whose names can still be heard in the folk music, dance of Rajasthan.
After India got independence, the state of Rajasthan was divided into 23 princly states and now it has become the most sought after tourist destination in the whole world.
