Pushkar Festival
Pushkar is a place located in the western part and is of religious significance in Rajasthan. Pushkar is among the five principal places of Hindu pilgrimage. Pushkar is a lake city full of temples flooded with pilgrims at all times. This holy city is home to the only one of a kind Brahma temple.
Pushkar Fair is an annual event here that is celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement and attracts international tourists in enormously large number. The fair starts in November on the occasion of ‘Karthik Purnima’ and is continued for next five days. This is the time when the actual resident population of saddhus and pilgrims get double in number. Since the lake holds mythological and historical significance in Indian religion, it is thus considered very holy and auspicious to bath in the Pushkar Lake during these five days of the fair.
On the fair ground, the festival is celebrated with offering prayers to Lord Brahma.
