Nagaur Fair
Nagaur Fair is the second largest cattle fair of Rajasthan where bullocks, camels and horses are traded at large. It is celebrated and organized in the month of January and February every year in Nagaur district of Jodhpur. The fair goes on for a week wherein the animals are decked up beautifully with various accessories in an extravagant manner.
Nagaur fair also highlights the biggest red chili market of India at display. Other items that are traded at the fair include wooden items, iron crafts, camel leather accessories etc. The most attractive feature of this fair becomes the owners of these animals who very proudly flaunt their colorful turbans and long mustaches.
On the fun and enjoyment front, Nagaur Fair has lot to offers to the tourists. These events include sports competitions such as tug of war, camel races, bullock races and cockfights. Other means of entertainment are the shows and performances put by jugglers, puppeteers, storytellers, along with campfire evenings, adding to the excitement. Echoing through the peace and serenity of the desert, the folk music of the Jodhpur lends further serenity to the mind. All activities are enjoyable and are worth a visit.
Buses connect Nagaur to all major cities of Rajasthan while Trains connect it to Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner and Delhi via Merta Road.
