Elephant Festival of Jaipur attracts people from all over the world. The festival is held annually during Holi in the month of March or April at Chagan Stadium. The event is all about elephants as the name suggests and thus all the activities are also centered on the elephants only. This is the time when the entire capital city of Jaipur is decorated beautifully to show their love and excitement towards their festivals. The festival starts with a unique procession of elephants. The sight is truly worth capturing as the elephants are decorated in the most royal manner with best attire and accessories with dancers and musicians performing on the beats of folk songs along their side in the procession.
There are several activities held in this festival such as ‘Gaj Shringar’ meaning display of decorated elephants, polo matches and tug of war between the elephants which is ultimate fun to watch. The elephants also participate in playing holi and greeting the guests with garlands before a jury of expert and tourist. All these activities are conducted in order to choose the “Best Decorated Elephant”. Apart from elephants, horses, chariots, camels and cannons are also present to enlarge the excitement and grandeur of this festival.
