Baneshwar Fair of Dungarpur, Rajasthan is a religious festival celebrated annually in the month of January and February with many traditions and rituals. The festival is devoted Lord Shiva and is symbolic cultural identity of Bhils of Rajasthan, Gujrat and Madhya Pradesh. The Baneshwar fair is held at a small delta formed by the river Som & Mahi to offer prayers to Lord Shiva who is locally named as Baneshwar. Baneshwar is the synonymous name for Shiv Linga.  The festival is enriched with traditional performances and cultural programs with folk songs, dance, Raslila, dramatic acts, animal show, magic shows, fun rides for children’s and acrobatic feats. During this time whole of Dungarpur city can be seen flocked and crowded with travelers from all over. The main purpose of organizing this fair is to seek blessings from Lord Shiva by offering prayers in the ancient temple of Baneshwar Mahadev. You can find lanes of various stalls in this fair from where you can buy souvenir and handicraft items to take with you back home.
