Dholpur is newly form district of Rajasthan. In the earlier days, it was known as Dhawalpuri. Dholpur is close to the north-east of Agra, on the south touched by Madhya Pradesh, on the west by Madhopur and on the north by Bharatpur. Dholpur has rich history that mesmerizes visitors. Dholpur was built by a small ruler Dhawal Deo and gave the name to this city.Dholpur was a tiny kingdom but had a vociferous history because its on the enroute linking Kabul to Delhi, apart from that it has some stronger cities like Agra, Gwalior and Bayana appealed the rulers who wanted to take bulge of its location. Shergarh Fort : Shergarh fort is located at south of Dholpur in Rajasthan. It was established by Shan Shah Suri and an excellent example of this period. Shergarh fort is now in demolishing condition but it is still major attraction of Dholpur. This fort was well made on the place of Hindu Fortress. It is around 65 km from the district Bran. This fort was structured in 10th century, which was religious site and dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Khanpur Mahal : Khanpur Mahal was an urge home for Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The beautiful structures of Khanpur Mahal are the major attractions which mesmerize the visitors.
Shiva Temple : This ancient temple boasts of great architectural beauty and located near the Gwalior- Agra road.

Muchchhkund : Muchchhkund situated around 8 km away from Dholpur. This name is given by the Raja Muchchhkund from the suryavanshi dynasty. It is believed that he had ruled over the nineteenth generation.
Ramsagar Sanctuary : Ransagar sanctuary is situated almost 34 km from Dholpur and it has a variety of aquatic life along with freshwater crocodiles, apart from that various varieties of fishes and snakes. If you will visit here, you will really enjoy the water birds, Jacanas, Ringed Plovers etc.
Talab Shahi : Talab Shahi is a lake and was established by Shah Jahan. This lake is located 40km from Dholpur. Talab Shahi attracts a number of winter migratory birds like Pintail, Tufted Duck, Comnion Pochard, Gadwalla and more.
Van Vihar Wild Life Sanctuary : Van Vihar Wild Life Sanctuary is situated almost 18 km away from Dholpur. This wildlife sanctuary reserve of the paragons of Dholpur.It almost covers an area of 59.86 km. It has a rich variety of wildlife.
